Corporate Gifting Catalogue 2026: How to Read One

A corporate gifting catalogue is usually organised by budget tier and occasion, with a per-unit price and MOQ against each item. The three things catalogues routinely omit are what the price excludes (branding, packaging, GST and freight are commonly quoted separately), the certification behind any performance claim, and the real lead time at your quantity. Read every catalogue price as a starting figure and ask for a landed per-unit cost before comparing options.

Key Facts

  • Catalogue prices commonly exclude branding, packaging, GST and freight.
  • Ask for landed per-unit cost at your quantity before comparing.
  • Any performance claim (retention hours) needs a certification number to be meaningful.
  • MOQ and price both change at volume breaks — roughly 100, 500 and 2,000 units.

How catalogues are structured

Most follow the same pattern: tiers by budget (often "team", "executive" and "leadership"), then items within each tier, each with a per-unit price and an MOQ. Some add occasion filters — Diwali, onboarding, milestones.

The structure is useful for narrowing quickly. It is less useful for comparing suppliers, because two catalogues quoting "₹1,200" may mean quite different landed costs.

What the price usually excludes

  • Branding — laser engraving typically ₹40-100 per unit; UV printing ₹50-150.
  • Packaging — branded boxes, sleeves, message cards, ₹30-200.
  • GST — 12% on steel drinkware, 18% on most other categories, and generally not recoverable on gifts.
  • Freight — especially for multi-address or direct-to-home distribution.
  • Individual personalisation — name engraving usually costs more than a single common logo and adds 3-5 days.

The specs that actually matter

For drinkware specifically, a catalogue entry is only meaningful if it states:

  1. Steel grade — 304 (also written 18/8 or SUS 304). "SS" or "food-grade steel" without a number usually means grade 201, which pits in water contact.
  2. Construction — double-wall vacuum, or single-wall. Only the former insulates.
  3. Certification — BIS IS 17526:2021 with a CM/L number, which is the only tested retention claim in India.
  4. Capacity and dimensions — base diameter matters if it needs to fit a car cup holder.
  5. Lid type — and whether the gasket is replaceable.

A catalogue that lists retention hours but no certification number is stating a marketing claim, not a measurement.

Questions to ask against any catalogue

  1. What is the landed per-unit price at my quantity, including branding, packaging, GST and delivery?
  2. Where is the next volume price break?
  3. What is the committed dispatch date?
  4. Can I see a physical production sample?
  5. What is the policy on damaged or short delivery?

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a corporate gifting catalogue?

A supplier listing organised by budget tier and occasion, with per-unit prices and MOQs. Prices typically exclude branding, packaging, GST and freight, so ask for a landed per-unit cost before comparing.

What should a gifting catalogue tell me about drinkware?

Steel grade (304), construction (double-wall vacuum or single-wall), certification with a licence number, capacity and dimensions, and lid type. Retention hours without a certification number are a marketing claim.

Why co-branding beats plain logo merchandise

This is the decision most procurement teams never consciously make. An employee or client receiving a bottle carrying only your company logo reads it as merchandise — and the default assumption about merchandise is that it was bought cheaply, because most of it is. A co-branded product carries a recognisable maker's mark alongside yours, which signals the item is a real product someone would have bought rather than something ordered in bulk to fill a gift bag.

The effect shows up in whether the thing gets used or drawered. If the point of the exercise is that your brand stays visible on someone's desk for the next five years, the maker's mark is working for you, not competing with you. Plain white-label still makes sense when the product genuinely is yours — a retail line, a subscription insert — but for gifting, co-branding is the stronger call.
