Measure the base, not the litres
The same volume can be tall and narrow or short and wide, which is why a slim 750 ml bottle drops into a holder that a 600 ml tumbler will not enter. Listings publish capacity and almost never publish base diameter, so the number that decides the purchase is the one you cannot see.
