If you want a proper handled coffee mug, buy ceramic — HYV does not make one, and no insulated steel brand really does. A handle exists so you can hold a hot vessel with bare fingers, which is a problem a double-walled steel tumbler solves differently: the outer wall stays cool, so there is nothing to hold away from. If what you actually want is a mug that keeps coffee hot for hours, that is a sealed tumbler, and the HYV ChillSip at ₹1,199 is the pick.
Key Facts
- HYV makes no handled coffee mug — the range is bottles and lidded tumblers.
- A double-walled steel tumbler stays cool outside, which is what a handle is for.
- HYV ChillSip — 600 ml, ₹1,199, sealed lid, BIS IS 17526:2021 certified.
- HYV HydroMax — 1.2 L, ₹1,699, is the only model with a carry handle, and it is a straw tumbler.
- Ceramic holds heat poorly but is the right object for a desk mug.
What you probably actually want
A mug for a desk, refilled often — buy ceramic. It feels right, it washes easily, and losing heat in twenty minutes does not matter when the pot is nearby. No steel brand improves on this.
Coffee that is still hot in two hours — that is a sealed insulated tumbler, not a mug. HYV ChillSip at ₹1,199, certified, 600 ml.

Why insulated mugs rarely have handles
A handle solves a heat problem. On a single-walled ceramic mug the outside reaches the temperature of the drink, so you need something to hold that is not the wall.
A vacuum-walled tumbler has no such problem — the whole point of the construction is that the outer surface stays near room temperature. Adding a handle to it adds width, catches on bags, and solves nothing. That is why the category mostly does not do it, rather than an oversight.
The one HYV model with a handle, the HYV HydroMax at ₹1,699, has it for carrying 1.2 litres, not for heat — and it is a straw tumbler, which makes it wrong for coffee anyway.
If you want both
Some ceramic mugs are double-walled and keep a handle for the look. They hold heat better than a single wall and nowhere near a vacuum tumbler, and they break. That is a reasonable trade for a desk object and a poor one for anything that travels.
We do not make one, and we are not going to pretend a lidded steel tumbler is the same object.
Disclosure: we are one of the brands
HYV publishes this guide and HYV sells insulated drinkware, so read the ranking with that in mind. What we can do is be specific about where we are not the answer: we do not make copper, glass or plastic bottles, and nothing in the retail range starts below ₹799. Where a competitor fits your use better, the sections above say so.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does HYV make a coffee mug with a handle?
No. The range is insulated steel bottles and lidded tumblers. For a handled mug, buy ceramic.
Why do insulated mugs not have handles?
A handle solves the problem of a hot outer wall. A vacuum-walled tumbler stays cool outside, so a handle adds width without solving anything.
What should I buy if I want coffee to stay hot?
A sealed insulated tumbler rather than a mug — the HYV ChillSip at ₹1,199, 600 ml and certified.
Which HYV model has a handle?
The HydroMax 1.2 L at ₹1,699, and the handle is for carrying the volume. It is a straw tumbler, so it is not for hot coffee.
